Tasting Notes

The Squarano estate is located in the heart of Valpolicella, on a gentle hilltop surrounded by vineyards, cherry and cypress trees. The Marchesi Fumanelli family has cultivated grapes and produced wines from their estate since 1470. Fumanelli is one of the region’s largest and most historic family owned wineries, having 78 acres of exclusively estate grown fruit, within the walls of their ancient property, eight miles from Verona. They deftly combine traditional and modern techniques to produce authentic expressions of their distinctive terroir.
Wine harvest is done by careful hand selection when the grapes are mature around end of September/half October. The pergola vines are 25-30 years old, the Guyot ones with 2500 plants per ha on the other hand are 8 - 10 years old.
Intense ruby red with violet reflexes, pronounced and characteristic bouquet of mature red fruits with a slightly spicy note. A wine of great structure and elegance.
