Tasting Notes

Marchese Lodovico Antinori created Tenuta di Biserno in upper Maremma with his brother Piero more than a decade ago. Campo di Sasso is a separate project formed by three different plots of vineyards west of the road that joins Bibbona to Bolgheri on the lower elevation, which means the land is sandier and the climate is warmer during the summer months. These conditions are ideal for growing Syrah, which accounts for 34% of the blend of Insoglio del Cinghiale, the foundation wine of the Bibbona estate. Insoglio is made from 32% Syrah and the remaining part is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Insoglio del Cinghiale is a very fleshy wine, coming from the distinctive Upper Maremma terroir. The peppery characteristics coming from the Syrah make it the ideal accompaniment to game dishes, such as the local wild boar (after which it is named), roast pheasant or rich game stews.
Ruby red with purple highlights. The nose is intense and youthful with dark fruits and some balsamic notes like tobacco. The palate is in nice balance with the nose, of medium weight and intensity and with a clean and fresh finish. Drinking beautifully now, this wine will also evolve over the next three years.
