Tasting Notes

Produced from certified sustainable vineyards located 300 to 350 meters above sea level on the south facing foothills of the Serra de Sao Mamede in northern Portalegre subregion of Alentejo.

Aragonez, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet and Syrah vines are trained in the double cordon system, densely planted and grown in extremely poor granite and limestone soils. Each grape variety is hand harvested, sorted and fermented separately before barrel ageing for 12 months in new French and American oak barrels of which the best are selected for the final blend.

This wine shows dark berry and spice characteristics framed in vanilla and creamy oak nuances. Expansive on the palate with intense dark fruit and an impressively elegant structure. Tannins are fine and the finish is tireless. The ripe nature of the fruit make this wine approachable today but the structure and acidity suggest this wine will age for another 10-15 years.

Best enjoyed with slow-cooked braised meats and vegetables.
