Tasting Notes

The blend is 97% Chardonnay + 3%... secret. Fermented and aged 11 months in small barrels of French oak, 300 liters in capacity, it is resplendent straw yellow in color, with a complex, intriguing and elegant bouquet showing exotic aromas of ripe fruit, melted butter, vanilla and pastries; these are confirmed on the palate, their aromatic promises kept and enhanced by rich yet delicate flavors, freshness and persistence. Dreams' cellar life is a good 8 to 10 years.
The name and the story of this wine are rather curious: it was first dedicated to a rock album, U2’s The Joshua Tree (1987) and one song in particular, called “Where the Streets Have No Name”. Hence the original label, “Where the Dreams have no end”.
The first vintage, needless to say, was 1987. Since then, the name of the wine saw a few variations. In 1996, the name became “Were Dreams, now it is just wine!” 2003 to the present sees a partial return to the source, and the name is “W.... Dreams ... ......”. The dots may be interpreted however one likes, although Silvio Jermann personally believes they stand for “Where Dreams can happen”. Those who tried the wine call it Dreams — rightfully so, for that’s what it tastes like!

Critical Praise

Dreams Chardonnay is, as one would expect of all Jermann wines, of extremely high quality thanks to meticulous work in the vineyard and as well as in the cellar. Dreams Chardonnay is 97% Chardonnay + 3%... The wine is balanced with lovely ripe fruit flavours and plenty of counteracting acidity. Dry, round and very long, Dreams' cellar life is a good 8 to 10 years.
