Tasting Notes

This wine is from a small 2 hectares parcel on Bordeaux's right-bank.
It is fully barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc and aged in 100% new oak barrels for 6 months.

Château Haut Grelot was established in 1920 in the village of "Les Grelots" Over the last thirty years, the Chateau has expanded their vineyards using the best quality grapes. The " Sauvignon Blanc " grape is ideally suited to the soil and is consistently producing exceptional wines.

Technical data :
Average vineyard age : 25 yrs

It shows intense aromas of white peach, vanilla, melon and orchard blossoms. This wine a has wide mouthfeel and full bodied texture. Creamy and harmonious with gentle acidity and a long and wide finish.

Total area : 58 hectares
22 hectares of white grapes
36 hectares of red grapes
Red grapes : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec
White grapes : Sauvignon Blanc, Muscadelle, Sémillon

The vineyard is comprised of two soils: sandy-gravelly on the hillsides bordering the Gironde Estuary and sand-clay-silt on the hillsides further inland. “Premières Côtes de Blaye” benefits from an ideal microclimate in which the high level of sunshine and enough rain guarantee the perfect environment for grape production. These conditions bring fruitiness, freshness and vivid aromas to our whites.

They cultivate their vines with great care, using precise, proven techniques. De-budding, side-shoot pruning, defoliation, low yields and green harvesting… all vital to producing the desired grape. The object of these procedures being to spread the grapes on the base of the vine so that they have maximum sunshine and airing, all synonymous with quality in the future wine.
