Tasting Notes

Our 2016 Sauvignon Blanc comes from the second harvest of our replanted Váradi vineyard. This vintage brought rich fruit character and taut acidity. Opening with a delightful grapefruit citrus fragrance, the palate shows a vibrance and balance. Easy, fresh yet showing ample complexity. Our wines are born out of the marriage between tradition and modern technology, and they are imbued with sophistication and joie de vivre – they carry forth all the power of their enchanting place of growth. The aristocratic past is revived in every single drop of our white wines – with fresh attitude, whereby contemporary winemaking procedures make it possible to taste the experience in the present. Hungarian expat Róbert Gilvesy moved back to his homeland from Canada, and began building the Gilvesy winemaking empire on the former Esterházy estate on Szent György Hill. Thanks to years of hard work, the Hegymagas-based facility now includes a modern building complex and about 13 hectares of vineyards. In addition to being the home of the family, the estate also features a processing plant and a cellar.
