WineWire.ca is the brainchild of Adam Bekhor and Nelson Abreu, two young entrepreneurs from very different backgrounds who came together through a shared love of wine and a passion to build a business that could change the way Canadians come to know and experience wines. Adam, who comes from a finance and marketing background, and Nelson, the co-founder of a small Toronto wine agency, believe WineWire.ca can become the most trusted source in Canada for wine lovers to discover – and buy – wines they can’t find in their provincial liquor store.

WineWire.ca offers customers a convenient online ordering mechanism to purchase case lots of wines directly from independent wine agents. Working as a marketing representative for the wine agencies listing their products on our site, we do not directly handle any part of the actual buyer-seller transaction. That said, if you have a complaint about any wine agency promoting its products on WineWire.ca, we want to hear about it. Please drop us a line and we’ll do our best to help you. For now, WineWire.ca only promotes wines carried by Ontario wine agents, which can only be sold to customers residing within the province. However, our plan is to grow and expand WineWire.ca to other parts of Canada in the near future. Keep checking our site for news.

WineWire.ca represents an ever-growing roster of independent wine agencies, carrying some of the best wines in the world. We do not hold an exclusive relationship with any one wine importer or producer. Visitors to WineWire.ca have the opportunity to learn about, discuss and purchase wines from any of the many competing wine agencies that choose to list their products on our site. We do not offer category exclusivity to anyone.

With his background in retail banking and marketing, Adam Bekhor brings solid business credentials to the table as WineWire’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. He also paddles a mean canoe and has lugged his snowboard around the world in search of the white fluffy stuff.

With an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and an Honours BA from Queen’s University in Geography and Economics, Adam is well prepared to combine his business acumen with his passion for wine and the great outdoors.

Adam is currently a candidate with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust diploma program.

Given a choice of any wine in the world to drink, Adam would choose a 1982 Chateau Latour sitting on the banks of the Sevogle River near Miramichi, New Brunswick with a fly rod at his side watching the salmon jump.

Wine Wire’s co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Nelson Abreu’s background has long been in the wine industry. An avid snowboarder who once raised an albino shark-fish named RedEye, Nelson leveraged his status as a high school valedictorian with an affinity for business and economics to earn himself an Honours BA from the University of Toronto in Political Science.

Armed with his degree, Nelson soon launched his career as an executive search consultant. However, inspired by his long-time love of amateur winemaking and staying true to his entrepreneurial passion, Nelson made the wise decision to switch career paths and founded The Canadian Signature Wine Company and 30.50 Imports, a successful Ontario wine agency dedicated to the marketing and sales of imported wines.

He has earned his diploma with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and was elected a member of the Wine Judges Commission of Canada.

If Nelson could drink any one bottle of rare wine right now, it would be an 18th Century Malmsey that he would share with his grandparents, sitting by the sea on Madeira Island.

WineWire - This Is Game Changing Stuff: WineWire has come to the marketplace with a direct-to-consumer e-Commerce model of putting wine agents directly in contact with consumers. Wine agents (i.e. importers/distributors) can sign-up to be part of this program to list their wines and they can sell wine on consignment using the WineWire platform.....brilliant!

E-commerce site uncovers a world of wine hidden in the shadows: Walk into any LCBO store and you will see hundreds of wines lined up on the shelves. But chances are, you won’t find the wine you drank and loved the night before at your favourite restaurant. That’s because the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, and other provinces where the sale of alcohol is run by a government agency, tend to purchase from larger wineries.
